Who even am I ?
So here it is. I don't really know what I am doing here. Inspiring others, finding myself or building something to look back on. Maybe it's a mix of all three.
Come back to this page every now and then. you'll find reflections on Islam, society, and what life is like for a twenty one year old living in a city that's growing faster than he is.
Life in the concrete jungle that we call a city may seem promising, but are our hearts really connected to that which we yearn for? What do we yearn for? Has anyone even asked what should we be yearning for? I will leave you to figure that one out.
This is all nice, but it doesn't answer who even am I?
I'm a twenty one year old growing up in Manchester studying Education Psychology. Shaped by the city and probably social media, just like most people I'm someone who is juggling Islam, university, work and some sort of background noise.
However I want more than that. I want to reach my potential and use it to benefit young, busy Muslims stuck in the endless pace of their youth just like me.
I'm not claiming to have everything figured out, but the questions and reflections allow us to anchor our thoughts as permanent reminders that life isn't just about stacking pounds and pesos.
Abu Darda reported: The Messenger of Allah, صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
“The scholars are the inheritors of the prophets. Verily, the prophets do not leave behind dirham or dinar, but rather they only leave behind knowledge. and he who takes it has taken a great share. (Sunan Abi Dawud 3641)
So come back to this space from time to time if you're interested in reflecting on knowledge, society and the Muslim lifestyle. you may find something that inspires you to make a difference in this deceptive dunya.
Your brother, Ibn Farooq.
